Difference Between Master Data, Transaction Data and Customizing Data

Customized Data is the information for a particular Organization. This includes data such as Project ID, Special character for WBS, Currency, Budget Profile, Simulation, Payment Terms, Discounts, Pricing, Tolerance Limits etc., you do not normally change these data on a day-to-day basis.

Transactional Data is the day-by-day Information recording of Organization such as Purchasing Data, Sales Order, Goods Received, Invoicing, etc. This includes both system-generated data (tax, discount, etc., which is automatically calculated by the system during Data Posting) as well as user generated data like Information Posted Manually.

Master Data is the information required to decide how data to be posted into various Tables (such as Vendors, Project Data, Invoicing, etc.). The master data is usually shared across all modules (for example, Project is used to calculate all the Payments & Collections in SAP). The master data remains in the system for a long time period.
